> Our The Giver narratives were due today. If you didn't turn it in, you'll need to work on it over the weekend and turn it in to me on Tuesday.

In addition, you can do the 'cover art' project for extra credit. Illustrate a scene from your alternate ending, title it 'The Giver alternate ending', and write your name on there as the author. Turn this in anytime next week for credit.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

We don't have our normal vocabulary routine this week, so there will be no quiz on Friday.

Friday is the end of the grading period, so any missing work you have needs to be turned into me by the end of the week. On Tuesday I handed out grade reports with missing assignments. See me if you have questions . . .

This week we're focusing on reading our novel, The Giver. Apart from that, we just have a few of the normal warm-up and grammar pages.

Next week is State Testing! We've been preparing for this over many weeks. At this point, just focus on the strategies we have talked about in class to be fresh and prepared. Test smarter, not harder!

Today,
> We predicted what might happen next in the novel. We then summarized what has happened recently in The Outsiders. Quite a lot has happened to Ponyboy in a short time, and we went over the series of recent events that led him there.
